September 7-13

monday.

A day of recovery.

We traveled over Labor Day weekend back to our old

stomping grounds — Cleveland, Ohio.

We stayed with some of our oldest friends who

conveniently have children the exact same ages as ours.

Ruby + Henry were actually each other’s first friends,

which makes my heart hurt a little.

Our little Covid babies.

They’ve always had such a sweet little bond.

Meanwhile, Ruthie + Sylvie?

Could care less about each other.

In fact, if you ask Sylvie, she’ll tell you:

“I just don’t like Ruth looking at me.”

Fair enough, Sylvie. Boundaries are important.

TUESDAY.

FIRST GRADE.

Someone explain to me how I have a first grader.

Actually, don’t.

BRB while I go cry.

No seriously.

WEDNESDAY.

Ruth had her SNEAK PEEK at school and boyyyyy was she stoked.

I walked into her new classroom and we immediately went to the play dough table.

PURPLE play dough might I add.

We played. And we played hard.

I asked, “Ruthie! Do you like your new classroom?!”

Her: “Nah.”

Cool cool cool. This should be fun.

Maybe after a few good floor lays she’ll reconsider.

A young boy holds up a colorful first day of first grade sign with his name Henry, wearing a backpack outdoors.

Thursday.

What did we do Thursday?

...

Apparently nothing worth remembering.

Moving on.

Friday.

Ruthie’s first official day of school! Sand in her shoes, the works.

Henry had Fun Day Friday. Came home with about 214934 Bills coloring sheets

that need to secretly make their way to the recycling bin.

And I washed the car.

WOW. HUGE DAY OVER HERE.

Although, I will say, the amount of crumbs currently living in

my car has decreased significantly.

Are they gone?

Absolutely not. But there are fewer.

saturday + sunday

The Garden House Minis.

We were here. We were there. We moved times.

We watched radars. We stared at clouds.

We questioned every weather app known to mankind.

It was a wild ride.

The weather hated us.

But Heather at The Garden House was an absolute GEM.

I only texted her approximately 5,234 times asking what her radar was

reading/saying/whatever you do with radars.

We rolled with every bit of the schedule/weather chaos.

Oh, and good news!

After the “torrential downpour” that wasn't...

and rearranging our entire lives for apparently no reason.

Let’s just throw a little extra stress into picture day because why not?!

THE FREAKING SUN CAME OUT ON MY DRIVE HOME.

I’m bitter. Maybe.

Somehow...

WE MADE IT.

I think. Maybe.

Ask me again tomorrow.
